introduction

Thank you for taking the time to explore EMBODY MENTAL HEALTH. We believe in the healing the whole self—mind, body, and spirit. When we ignore one aspect of ourselves in healing mental, emotional and physical pain the treatment is one dimensional and the ignored “limbs” made emaciated from lack of attention. When we have heartache we often feel our throat close, our belly churn, or our literal heart ache. When we are in physical pain we can feel a drain on our spiritual, emotional, and psychological resources. We are complex beings, living inside three dimensional selves; we should work to heal our emotional and psychic wounds in three dimensional ways.
EMBODY MENTAL HEALTH has been created as a window into the world of healing the self in mind, body, and spirit. The information on our site is informational so that you can begin to explore a variety of ways to healing and wellness in your own life. which to begin to find ways to your own wellness, the wellness of those you love, or the clients and patients you serve. We embody our pain in life and we can embody our own emotional healing as well.

the mission

Our mission is to be a resource to people who are professionally and/or personally interested in the Mind/Body Connection and healing treatments for mental wounds found in mind/body and complimentary therapies. We want this site to serve as a guide to the personal freedoms that body-oriented therapy, mind/body techniques, animal-bond therapies, Equine Facilitated Psychotherapy (EFP), creative arts, and other integrative mental health approaches to wellness can provide.

the name

“EMBODY” is meant to stand as a metaphor for how we embody our pain and contain our hurts both in our mind and our bodies.

It is meant, also, to symbolize the empowering way that accessing our bodies can help heal the mind and our emotions. We all have the capacity to self-sooth and apply self- care in our lives but often the task is daunting. Embody Mental Health reminds us of all the ways we can help ourselves find wellness: mind, body, and spirit.

credo:

life. don’t just survive. thrive.

  • Kristal:

I am looking for healing, I dont think I can ever move on out of the darkness that surrounds me. They stole my innocence, my soul, my I’ve developed some patterns over the years in the way I deal with people in my life or even how I deal with myself. People will let me in their lives, and I have always been able to go and come as I please…I never let anyone in. I trust no one, too embarassed to admit that I too hurt deeply. If ever idecide Im going to share something with someone, they beat me to it by telling me something…now Im suppose to be their strength…and I have always been their strength, but there is none left inside me for me. They dont have any for me either.Im a runner and often in denial. I think I can solve everything on my own, because that’s how its always been…on my own…as a child. Im surrounded by darkness, but those around me see the brightest light around me, often want my life…that they no nothing about, they want to switch places with me even, not knowing they could never walk a mile in my shoe. I want to scream scream scream scream, but Im afraid my neighbors would call the cops.

Artistic Profile Picture

I am a trauma therapist and survivor of trauma. I believe in the potential in all of us not just to survive but thrive in living. I am yoga practitioner and teacher, writer and reader, animal lover and animal-assisted therapist. I believe for every challenge the world hands us we are also given a solution; sometimes subtle and other times clearly shown. The hope of this site is to bring a tiny piece of hope to anyone searching for it and maybe light a spark that will continue to burn in each person's recovery from pain and return to the truest part of the self.
